Ebola: Salt Therapy Originator Apologizes For Her Stunt

In what is coming in as a big surprise in today's afternoon, one 'DRealGeesam1' came out plain to disclaim her earlier sent out Salt therapy as the solution to Ebola Disesease.

In her message:

''My confession and apology

Dear nairalanders and everyone who have heard of the ebola Prevention "News", My name is Adesewa, I am coming out clean because what started has a joke has escalated into the unprecedented.

How it started
Yesterday i was with friend in her hostel, we were talking about this Ebola out break, when one of my friends, Funke (she introduced me to nairaland) brought the idea of Us playing a prank on our friends. The first suggestion was to tell people that aloe very could cure Ebola, but we thought it would sound too ridiculous so we forgot about it.

Later that even an idea came to me (i now regret that i did it).
I decided to send a BBM broadcast message to my friends, telling them that the Ministry of Health has asked everyone to bathe with salt…

Victory Is Always Certain

" He who Passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.  He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it" -Martin Luther King Jr.

Few days ago which unavoidable looks like months to me, I was banished from the Great Ife Page by the powers that be because of my un-shaking stance of standing and not being brainwashed by suicidal releases and Propagandas aimed at K-legging our Democratically elected Union leaders.

I roped my self and stood against oppression as imbibed in me, comments flew in both appalling and "solidaritory". Many spoke and bluffed but I was mostly disgusted by the suggestion of me begging for my right not a privilege o!(Singing) "Great Ife yi ti gbo gbo wa ni"!

Gone are those days of mediocratic students who are oppressed and they keep shut wailing in silence.

Meanwhile, Tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by people but the silence over that by the Good p…

South-West Governors Meet Over Ebola

GOVERNORS in South-West states, on Wednesday, met in Lagos, to hold an emergency meeting over concerted efforts to be deployed in containing the Ebola virus disease in the states.
This came as the Lagos State government confirmed the death of one of the nurses who had first degree contact with the dead Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who died of Ebola virus disease in Lagos.

Speaking through the Lagos State governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, at the Government House, Alausa, Lagos, the governors told newsmen that cross-border movements were major constraints in combating Ebola, while appealing to the Federal Government to deploy manpower and resources to curtail the spread.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun lamented that despite 58 Hilux vans patrolling the over 70 illegal borders between Lagos and Ogun, there was still the need for the Federal Government to assist with more vehicles and security forces.

Also, the Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, called on all Nigerians to be stakeholde…

Fashola Reverses LASU School Fees To Status Quo Of N25,000

Mr. Fashola stated this on Thursday at the convocation programme of the university.

The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has directed that the controversial fee hike at the Lagos State University, LASU, be reversed.

Mr. Fashola stated this on Thursday at the convocation programme of the university.

He said the fees would now be returned to the old charges.

The reversal comes after months of protests by students and lecturers of the university.

The Lagos State Government had, earlier in 2011, increased the fees from N25, 000 to N198, 000 for humanities and education, while medical students were to pay N350, 000.

After the protests, the state government approved a reduction by 34 to 60 per cent. That reduction would have seen students pay between N76, 750 and N158, 250 depending on the faculty and year of study.

That reduction was still opposed by the students and the lecturers.

Thursday’s announcement by the governor could, however, lead to a reversal to the 2011 charg…

Happy Hometriculation To Great Ife Freshmen

Normally, by this time(09:00am), I should have been armed with my fork and spoon secretly pocketed in my trouser as I celebrate with my fresh friends. No thanks to OAU management and the alutarious Intellectual Fighters for Emancipation.

Today, August 7 was initially scheduled for the Matriculation of our freshmen based on the calendar released for the 2013/2014 academic session. It is quite unfortunate that the school closure has destroyed all plans.

As a freshman who should have been translated into a bonafide Great Ife student today, how do you feel about the disruption of plan?

OAU Remains Nigeria's Best University -Webometrics

Contrary to widespread reports, and in further confirmation of its academic excellence and intellectual supremacy over and above other Universities and Institutions of Higher Learning, the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has, again, been rated the first and the best University in Nigeria and 19th in Africa.

Reacting, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bamitale Omole, attributed the giant strides recorded by his administration to the unparalleled research output, administrative acumen, technical know-how of the academic, administrative and technical staff of the University, adding that only a focused leadership, which is the hallmark of his management team, can produce such a spectacular feat.

Professor Bamitale Omole, then applauded the dedication to duty of all stakeholders in making sure that the ideals of the founding fathers of OAU become a reality in its entirety. He urged the Federal Government not to relent in its efforts to improve the funding of education, part…

FROM THE LEADERSHIP OF THE UNION (As At Today, 6th August 2014)

‘’ Most times, lie gets halfway the world before the truth manages to get its pants on ’’ - Winston Spencer Churchill

Since the autocratic closure of the school by the management on 18th June and Great Ife students left the barricades, the leadership of the Union has not failed in its duty of holding regular discussions to appraise matters. Today the leadership of the Union met to reappraise issues that concern the 2014 Parliamentary Session of the Union and the ongoing struggle against increment in school fee. Variety of matters were discussed ranging from the current state of the struggle and some germane administrative issues were holistically assessed especially the most recent of them. An encompassing resolution of the meeting was to give re-assurances to our students on our commitment to the struggle and to clear the air on all allegations levelled against the leadership of the union.
