Life On Campus With Mizdee- Privacy

By Dosunmu Deborah
The first time I browsed my e portal page during the sessional break and saw the then annoying clause, 'congratulations! You've been allocated a bed space in Alumni Hall,' it was appalling. I could not believe my eyes, so I came up with an excuse of false hope: I will be reallocated to another hall. I never dreamt of being allocated a bed space in alumni hall. I don't think I need to tell you my preference.
The decision to move to Alumni took me a month. In that month of indecision, my friends and I went to 'inspect' the hall. The beauty that heralds this hall is just the parking lot...and well, the common room. It is important that I take cognisance of my environment. The first thing I noticed on the walls of block 1 was...
" Avoid squatting.
       Enjoy your privacy."

Let's omit 'squatting'. The word that aroused my curiosity was 'privacy'. In Alumni?, seriously?, I wondered within me. Don't forget the fact…

You're walking in your area on a cold evening after a downpour. You're reading the message from your friend while walking, you know you shouldn't but the gist was just too good to wait till you get home. All of a sudden, you slip and fall into a puddle and after you finally gather yourself, you find your precious phone sitting at the bottom of the puddle. The glow of the screen catches your eyes from the water as your heart bleeds for your precious phone. Now many of us have experienced something related to or different from this scenario, but it all ends with your phone sitting in water and you confused as to what to do. Well, it's time to know what to do and what not to do if your phone falls in water. The first and probably most obvious thing to do is to remove the phone from as soon as possible. OAU Students Rubbish TY's Agitated Trip To New York

The President of the Obafemi Awolowo University Students' Union, Omotayo Akande a.k.a TY has come under fire following his notification of the legislative arm of the Union, the Students' Representative Council on Wednesday of his intention to honour a supposed invitation to the New York, USA for a campus conference for students.

Some students have however drawn the SU President's attention to one of his paragraphs during his inauguration speech where he promised not to see his position as an avenue to get fame.

"It is indeed a life time opportunity to register a legacy and make mark of indelible impact. The orientation of leadership that we carry is that of service and not privilege, that of responsibility and not opportunity, that of learning and not looting, that of conscientisation and not connections. Unfortunately, this generation sees leadership as a privilege to harness, acquire, and accrue ephemeral wealth and fame. In our time we see it as a God-given privil…
