OAU Staff sets to Resume

Prior to the directives of FG, on the 15th of October, 2020, OAU Staff sets to resume for work on Monday. The Federal Government directed civil servants who have not been working since March because of the COVID-19 pandemic to return to work on Monday, 19th October 2020.  This was disclosed by Boss Mustapha; the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Sanni Aiyu; the National Coordinator at a press briefing of the task force on Thursday ,15th October 2020. However, the resumption of the OAU staff was disseminated through a press release from the Office of the Registrar. All staff are advised to comply with the advisory on COVID-19 prevention. While there is still no news on the resumption of students, they are advised to stay safe and protest peacefully. Stay safe. Na person wey dey alive dey go school.  #EndSwat #Endsars

Maiden Congress Of EDM Students Births EDEMSA

On Friday 14th August, 2015, students of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management (EDM) gathered from all the departments in the faculty to hold her first general meeting which eventually birth a student faculty body, EDEMSA.The congress which took place at the Studio 5 of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning was a bold step in actualizing the long awaited and agitated dream of a faculty association.‎

After the agenda of the congress was read to the congress men,a draft constitution and the name of the association was adopted to be Environmental Design & Management Students Association (EDEMSA).Nomination of members to constitute the Electoral Committee that will conduct elections to usher in the first set of the association's executive followed thereafter. The Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Bamitale Omole was one of the top dignitaries present at the burial of the Ooni of Ife today.

The Nigerian Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the Governpor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko were also present at the burial.

Breaking News: Suspended OAU SU President Reinstated

Following the Parliamentary sitting which was slated for 4pm today, the suspended Students' Union President of Obafemi Awolowo University, Omotayo Akande a.k.a TY has been reinstated. TY had earlier appealed his suspension claiming that suspending him was too severe a punishment for his breach of constitutional protocol. A motion was moved in support of his reinstatement and a counter-motion was also moved against it by honourables present at the sitting. The motion in support was that he, the president should be reinstated immediately if he apologizes while the counter-motion maintained that he should complete his one-month suspension.The motions were therefore subjected to voting. 49 parliamentarians voted that TY be reinstated while another 6 voted that he should remain suspended. Word War II: Fajuyi, Awolowo, Alumni & Angola Make It To Second Round

It was truly war on Saturday, 8th August, 2015 at the Awolowo Hall CafĂ© where the various halls of residence battled each other with words in a debate competition hosted by Team Reflector. The debate started around 11am.The debaters of the halls who were paired beforehand then debated on their various topics with Fajuyi Hall and Akintola Hall setting the pace. The queens of Mozambique hall then faced the Castle of Great men in what could be described as a real tussle as the Chief Speaker of Mozambique Hall came with a vocal prowess and points that made a shiver run down the spines of the great men of Awo. ETF Hall then faced Alumni Hall and finally the Bedrock of Militancy had nobody to face as the Ladies of Moremi Hall did not show up. This however gave the Angola Hall debaters more work to do as they then had to meet a threshold mark of 60% to qualify.In as much as the turnout of students was low compared to what was expected, some popular faces were present at the event: Hon Seun, …

Barcelona Wins Super Cup

Barcelona FC of Spain has won this year's edition of the UEFA Cup.

Barcelona, the winner of the UEFA Champions league and Sevilla, the winner of the UEFA Europa league went head to head on Tuesday evening in a keenly contested football match. Barcelona eventually won the match after loosing a big lead they secured during the early hour of the game.

Sevilla came from a 4-1 loss to level up in regulation time which saw the match enter Extra time. Pedro eventually scored the wining goal of the tie for Barcelona in the 115th minute. The previous edition of the Super Cup was won by Real Mardrid.

Ooni's Demise: Ife Residents Warned To Stay Indoor On Wednesday

Residents of Ile-Ife town are expected to keep indoors between the hours of 9am-4pm on Wednesday.Then death of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II will be officially announced on Wednesday‎.
Making the disclosure on Monday, the Awara of Iwara-Ife, Oba Layi Adereti, said the preparation of the burial of the monarch who died at Saint Mary Hospital in London about two weeks ago will immediately commence.

Oba Adereti spoke for the first time on the death of the Oba Sijuwade, which had been severally denied by the palace chiefs.According to him, the Oro festival is the final rite of passage for the Oba Sijuwade, disclosing that between 9 am and 4 pm on Wednesday the death of Ooni would be made public. Oba Adereti, who is also the head of Oro Cult in Ile-Ife, warned all residents, both male and female of the ancient town to keep indoors during the Oro rites.The monarch also disclosed that after the Oro rites and proclamation, subsequent rites will follow. WAEC Releases 2015 May/June WASSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council has released the May/June 2015 Senior School Certificate Examination results, withholding 118,101 candidates’ results out of the 1.5 million students that sat the examination.

WAEC Head of National Office, Mr. Charles Eguridu, announced this in Lagos at a press conference on Monday.

Eguridu added that the states owing WAEC had reduced to 13, saying the candidates in public schools in the 13 states would not have their results until their state governments pay their candidates’ registration fees.

The examination body had raised the alarm that 19 states owed the agency about N4bn, an amount that might cripple the operations of WAEC.

OAU P-UTME: 10,338 Candidates Scored 200 Marks & Above

No fewer than 10, 293 candidates failed to score 200 marks and above in the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

This was contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, on Sunday.

The university, according to Olarewaju, released the result of the Saturday screening barely six hours after the conduct of its post-UTME exercise on the website of the institution.

He said, “Out of about 20, 631 candidates, who sat for the screening, 10, 338 candidates scored 200 marks and above. This signifies about 58 per cent, specifically 57.08 per cent.

“A sizeable number of the candidates, however, put in exceptional brilliance, which produced spectacular results, scoring 300 and above, with four of them, who are aspiring to study Education English, specially outstanding.
