OAU Post-UTME Registration Commences on the 5th of October 2020

By  Ganiyu Ayanniyi The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife is set to start Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (PUTME) registration on the 5th of October, 2020 for Jamb candidates who picked the institution as their first as well as for Direct Entry (DE) applicants. The registration form which is obtainable via the school portal ( at the amount of N2,000 is expected to close on the 31st of October, 2020.
After the payment for the registration form which would require generating Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number from the school portal, there will be need to authenticate the payment.
It is to be noted that the Post-UTME screening will be strictly observed under the guidelines as released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) at the following centres: a) JAMB CBT Centre, Bwari b) Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

World’s First Head Transplant A Success after Nineteen Hour Operation

A 36-year-old man has undergone the world’s first successful head transplant. The ground-breaking operation took a team of surgeons 19 hours to complete and has allowed the patient to be cancer-free.

Paul Horner, who was diagnosed with bone cancer five years ago, was on the verge of death when he was approved for the controversial and possibly deadly operation.

Doctor Tom Downey, who was part of the South African team who carried out the operation, told CNN he is thrilled about the results. “It’s a massive breakthrough. We’ve proved that it can be done – we can give someone a brand new body that is just as good, or better, than their previous one.

The success of this operation leads to infinite possibilities.”

Ope Banwo, Vincent Adeoba, Joy Akosa To Speak At The Nigeria Internet Business Conference

Africa's internet doyen and the Vice Chancellor of America Internet Business School Dr. Ope Banwo alongside five other online business professionals have been shortlisted to speak at the first Nigeria Internet Business Conference (NIBC).

OAU Predegree Admission List Released, Admitted Students To Pay N212,500

This is to notify the Obafemi Awolowo University Pre-degree programme aspirant that their admission list is out. Applicants are expected to log in to their account on the OAU CDL porter to download their admission letter and the registration package which comprises of the hostel oath form, medical history and examination and with clinic bio-data.

As regards the school fees, the males are required to pay in a full fee if N177,500 and the females N212,500 on or before Monday November 30,2015. According to the Centre for distance Learning (CDL),failure to meet payment deadline may result in the forfeiture of the offer of admission. The fees are payable through E-tranzact or interswitch webpay links on the accounts of those admitted.

The breakdown of the school fees for the female students goes thus:

Federal Government Bars Medical Graduates From NYSC

In an effort to stamp out quackery and untoward practices in medical practice in the country, the federal government on Monday barred all graduates of medicine from participating in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) until they have been qualified as medical doctors and have secured practice licence from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

The move came amid several complaints about the level of quackery displayed by some of the Youth Corps members posted mostly to rural areas to provide medical services.

The Registrar/Chief Executive of MDCN, Dr. Abdulmumini Ibrahim, who read the decision during a press briefing on Monday in Abuja explained that the council took the decision following series of complaints by the NYSC management that all manners of persons parading themselves as medical doctors have become desperate to proceed on service.

OAU Undergraduates And Postgraduates Clash Over Football Match

The final U-17 World Cup match between Nigeria and Mali that held on Sunday night, specifically at 11:00pm led to some unforeseen clash 'twixt the postgraduate and the undergraduate students of Obafemi Awolowo University as the later was denied access to see the match in the PG hall, Muritala Mohammed Hall of Residence.

Since the commencement of this year's edition of the tournament, OAU undergraduates have not been privileged to see the games including the semi final match of the U-17 World Cup that was only shown at the PG hall  because the other halls complained that DSTV, which is the popular cable in most halls, had no right to cover the world cup so, all hope lied on the alternative cable in the PG Hall. It was garnered that although they eventually allowed undergraduates in for the semi-final match against Mexico, they had plans to impede their coming back in for the final match for one reason or the other.

UJCM Begins Missions Week

It was a glorious Sunday on the 8th November, 2015 as Christians in Obafemi Awolowo University gathered together at the Afrika Amphi Theater in the institution to observe the first University Joint Christian Mission (UJCM) joint service for the rain semester and the beginning of UJCM Missions Week.

Just after the worship and praise session, the choristers delivered their special number which preceded the sermon of the day. Pastor Babatunde, the president of Anglican Students Fellowship (ASF) took to the pulpit to preach the sermon which he titled 'ME AND MY SALVATION'.

In his sermon, he admonished Christians to live a life of truthfulness wherever they go or in any position they find themselves. he further stated that salvation is available to all and sundry; both the rich, the poor, young and old irrespective of the tribe and religion. "And in conclusion, We must learn to forgive everyone that sinned against us", he said.

Northern Students' Forum Rejuvenates In OAU

The Northern Students' Forum, Obafemi Awolowo University chapter is back again after about three (3) years of its dormancy. This was disclosed at a Press briefing in the institution on Saturday.

While speaking to the press at the LLT 2, the conveners of the forum, Mr Yakubu Hassan John and Mr Bello Abubakar said their motive is to unite the indigenous students of the 19 states of the Northern Nigeria. They however made it known that the forum had been registered with the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), OAU in the year 2011 but went offline since then due to the negligence on the part of the past leaders of the Group.

The conveners also made it known that elections into various offices in the Forum will be conducted this semester for proper running of it. The envisaged leadership are expected to work to ensure the nexus between the forum and the state governments of member states, so as to assist their members with grants, scholarships, amongst many other benefit…
