OAU: NASELS Loses A Reputable Lecturer

Professor  Asiyanbola, a lecturer of Stylistics at the department of English, lost his life to the cold hand of death within the last 24 hours. The department was thrown into great shock in the light of this news. Professor Asiyanbola was considered to be a rare gem and he would be missed. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Important Notice To Prospective Corps Members FOR BATCH “B” 2017 NYSC MOBILIZATION*
The NYSC has released the time-table and requirements for the mobilization of the next batch of corps members.
The submission/uploading of students Data by Institutions will commence from 16th-21st October, 2017.
To meet up with the timeline, we advise students to confirm the correctness of their data between Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October, 2017.
Student’s data will be on display at the DSA as well as on the E-Portal/OAU Net. Students may forward their enquiries, complaints or observations in this respect stating their names and matric number to this line: 08108304554.
The NYSC states that there will no longer be provision for “Error List” after this upload.
Any student that falls into the error list will be re-presented for Batch ’A’ 2018.

OAU SU: Budget Sitting Set To Hold Tommorow

The Budgetary and Finance committee, Great Ife Students Union has finally submitted the 75-page  budget  for this parliament year to the Students Representative Council. The budget which has been fully reviewed contains the budget of all Union Councils (Hall Executive Council, Judicial Council & Central Executive Council), Committees (Select Committee, Submit Committee  & Budgetary and Finance Committee) and Commission (Transport Management Commission), comprising    58 offices.
In an extensive interview with the Chairman, Budgetary and Finance Committee, Hon.  Oladebo Akinwale , He said the committee though faced with some complications due to the political atmosphere has tried their best to ensure accountability and transparency. He explained the budget sitting was late due to the fact that the committee was not constituted early enough as there was no immediate outgoing SRC members, therefore a responsibility of the current parliament to appoint member…

Omole Ibukun, Others Suspended Indefinitely By School Management

Popular student activist who was suspended two sessions ago and was reinstated last session has been once again suspended by the University management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife.

According to reports, several other students, some of whom were involved in the last "kangaroo protest" were also affected by the development. However, as at the time of compiling this report, only Udeh John as been confirmed to be on the list apart from the former names.

Economics Students Set To Hold Annual Conference This Month

The ever gallant Economics students of the Obafemi Awolowo University are  set to hold the fifth edition of their ANNUAL ECONOMICS STUDENTS CONFERENCE[AESC5.0]..

The annual conference through Nigerian Economics Students Association(NESA), which started years back and has been the biggest economics students conference in Africa,has been scheduled to hold this October on the 26th and 27th at Oduduwa Hall in the institution. 
The conference is to feature special sessions  in business plan challenge,paper representation, Interview contest ,networking session with speakers and Gala Night where the popular pop artiste Adigun Alapomeji (9ice) will be in attendance. Corruption Is A Killer And A Serious Disease - Oluwo Of Iwo Land

Oba Abdul Rasheed Akanbi has today said that the problem Nigerians are facing, especially youths is the thinking and philosophy we inherited from our fathers. He disclosed this In a program organised by the Law Students' Representative Council(LSRC) today at Oduduwa Hall, OAU.

While rendering his speech on the topic 'Building and Sustaining Viable Youth for the Society', the Oluwo of Iwo land kept the youths present on their toes by feeding them with his thoughtful speech. He stated that the prime problem Nigeria is facing is genocidal corruption which is a killer, as our leaders are also an element in appetising and whetting it's flame.

OAU Suspends Transport Management Commission Chairman Indefinitely

OAU Peeps News Agency can confirm that a  student named Oluwalade Babatunde of Department of English,Faculty of Arts,OAU has been suspended indefinitely from the university community.. Mr Oluwalade Babatunde Popularly known as BabaTee and also the Chairman, Transport Management Commission of Great Ife Students Union received his  letter of suspension in the late hours of today Wednesday,October 11,2017..

In the letter obtained by the agency tagged "" Suspension from the University Pending Police Investigation of Your Criminal Activities "",  report received by the Vice Chancellor as stated by a part of the letter states "" On October 6th,2017 at 8:55am or thereabout, with some persons violently disrupted the academics and extracurricular activities of the University by forcefully chasing other students from Lecture halls under the guise of protesting an alleged unsatisfactory power supply to the campus. NITDA Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme 2017/2018

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has as its mandate to develop and regulate the Information Technology in Nigeria. Developing and regulating IT will support in transforming Nigeria into an IT driven economy for global competitiveness and the dire need of digital literacy.

The Agency has since 2010 established a scholarship scheme for Masters and Doctoral degree in relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) and ICT Law obtainable in Nigerian (Government and Private) Universities.

The scholarship award is strictly based on merit and is evenly distributed between the six geo-political zones for the PhD, 36 States and FCT for MSc.

Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Set Ablaze As A Result Of Students' Death

The Health Centre of the institution was set on fire by students of the institution on Saturday, 7th October 2017. From what we have been able to gather, the reason for the arson was the deaths of an HND 2 student of Estate Management and an ND 2 student of the Department of Architecture who both died in the State Hospital, Ifaki Ekiti after they were rejected by the Institution's Health centre because of their in ability to provide their Health centre cards.

The students' were preparing to write their Second Semester examinations which was scheduled to start on Monday, 9th of October, 2017 but was shifted to 16th of October, 2017, and were furious about the incident due to levity with which the Doctors and Nurses handled the issue.
