OAU Staff sets to Resume

Prior to the directives of FG, on the 15th of October, 2020, OAU Staff sets to resume for work on Monday. The Federal Government directed civil servants who have not been working since March because of the COVID-19 pandemic to return to work on Monday, 19th October 2020.  This was disclosed by Boss Mustapha; the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Sanni Aiyu; the National Coordinator at a press briefing of the task force on Thursday ,15th October 2020. However, the resumption of the OAU staff was disseminated through a press release from the Office of the Registrar. All staff are advised to comply with the advisory on COVID-19 prevention. While there is still no news on the resumption of students, they are advised to stay safe and protest peacefully. Stay safe. Na person wey dey alive dey go school.  #EndSwat #Endsars

Violence In Ife Town As Public Buses Are Being Attacked

Reports reaching us now is that there is that in the aftermath of an accident in Ife town, Bus drivers are currently being attacked in the town.

We all can notice how much everyone has become engrossed in several activities these days. Of course, this is to be expected in an academic environment, particularly around the middle of the semester in a tasking and demanding institution like our own OAU. Indeed, academic activities and every other involvement we might have, coupled with the interesting yet perturbing events that generally keeps the OAU community in a state of worrisome, yet bubbling excitement, is not something new to most of us.
These past weeks, even till date, have been particularly eventful, considering a whole number of things; some of which are the fear of the widely-rumored security threat on campus and the overall questions about safety, the disturbing fracas and ultimate suspension of the Students' Union, and then the tragedies of loss of some students' lives, all of which flooded the headlines and several social media platforms. In a Chat with OAU Peeps News Agency, the Centre for Distance Learning, Obafemi Awolowo University through the Programme Officer, Mr Bayo Oyekan has  announced the 28th&29th  of November, 2017 as the set date for the beginning of resumption for the newly admitted students as the 2017/2018 academic session begins..

Screening of the fresh students and their registration are billed for the same day of resumption. Below is the important information detailing the schedule based on the subject combinations of the students

Former LSS OAU President, Olaniran Quadri, Passes Away

Olaniran Quadri, former president of the Law Students Society OAU died yesterday, 6th November 2017. He was said to have slumped at died before getting to the hospital.

He was LSS president 2014/2015, he was succeeded by Ekpa Stanley. The late Quadri was from Ibadan and was the General Secretary of the Federation of Ibadan Students' Union, 2013/2014 academic session.

May his soul rest in peace and may the almighty grant his family fortitude to bear the loss.

OAU Vice Chancellor Speaks On The Suspension Of Students Union Activities

Few minutes after the notification of the Suspension of Union activities ,the Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede in an exclusive interview with OAU Peeps News Agency further stated that the union activities was suspended not proscribed..

He added that the suspension was necessary  after reports of fight amongst students got to the university management and also to allow the regime of the present immature Students Union leaders  to pass away..

The Vice Chancellor was further asked whether Students Union elections will hold this semester, he said everything depends on the students if they are mature enough to handle the suspension of the union activities and settle all their rifts.
He assured that if all these are done, Union activities will be reinstated soon..

He Concluded by encouraging the generality of  students  to see Obafemi Awolowo University as a model to other universities in spite of the bad leaders of the Student…

OAU Management Suspends Students Union Activities

Few hours after the impeachment of the Students Union President by the Parliament, the school management has suspended the Union activities until further notice following reports of incessant fighting and unruly behavior during the congresses and the recalcitrant attitude of the Students union leadership..

This was made known through a release obtained by OAU Peeps News Agency and signed by the University Registrar, D.O Awoyemi stressing that the conclusion  was inevitable for the university administration after the emergency meeting held on Monday , November 6,2017..

The release further stated the unacceptable misdemeanors manifested by the Students union in the short period of its existence after recent reinstatement which include;

OAU Vice Chancellor Speaks On The Impeachment Of The Students' Union President

Few hours after the impeachment of the Students Union President by the Parliament yesterday. the Vice  Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof.  Eyitope Ogunbodede in  an exclusive interview with OAU Peeps News Agency made his stance known concerning the impeachment of the Students Union President (Oyekan Ibukun) and other issues  relating to students.

Concerning the impeachment of the students union President , he made it known that he is yet to receive  any official statement  from the Parliament concerning the impeachment  and as such still regards Oyekan Ibukun (Dr. IBK)  as the Students Union President.

Speaking on the report  that  cultists  attacked some students on campus, he said it's  a rumour stressing it that he believes in the Security  Department  of the university  that such can never occur on campus..
