In The Midst Of Everyone Coming, Great Ife Beware

By Ayomide Emmanuel

The political atmosphere in the Students Community, Obafemi Awolowo University will take a new dimension in days to come and amid everything, students need to be more careful in choosing the next set of leaders.

Electioneering activities already started in full some weeks ago with departments and faculties preparing to conduct their respective elections to present the next set of leaders.

Consequently, the GreatIFE Students' Union also constituted the Electoral Commission to see to the emergence of the election of new leaders. The commission has however swung into action again by lifting a ban on election campaigns.

In the centre of everything, it's important to note that the political space will be muddy and flooded in days to come. And this can only mean that students will have to open their eyes and let Ephesians 1:18a be their anchor prayer and scripture so that their eyes may be opened and be flooded with light so that they may see Wolves disguising as Sheeps.

Remember that the thief only comes to steal, kill and destroy so you must be a sheep that knows the voice of his shepherd and harkens to it. Beware of politicians on Campus who unnecessarily become so close to you in this midst of time and season.

Everyone is coming and coming but the question that should rise in the heart of everyone is where are they coming from? Are they coming from paradise or hell? Remember those who came before them and by now I believe we can conclude where they came from.

GreatIFE Students Shine your eyes, do not be carried away by the activities of the election, you deserve leaders who will serve and not leaders who are all after the gain of entering into the building. Everyone wants to experience the opportunity of sitting down and making laws in an air-conditioned office. You deserve a VIBRANT STUDENTS REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL, one that will talk on matters pertaining to you, and put the executive councils in check and not one that will be engrossed in leadership struggle and forget to call for sitting.

Students in the Hall Of Residence should elect a Chairman and Chairperson that will see to their welfare and not one that even the grasses in the halls will be taller than weeks after resumption hereby making Snakes and other dangerous reptiles the occupant of the hostel while you're the squatter.

To everyone coming also, know that to be leaders, you must become servants first. You must not conform to the status quo especially if it entails ruling through coercion and unjust deeds over your subordinates. A leader’s credibility is based on how he/she upholds truth and fairness over his organisation and is meant to be humble and not boast.

They also encourage others and do not belittle their followers just because of their lack of capacity for something. They see potential in the uniqueness of their followers. You must be ready and open to taking advice so your ideas can become limitless. You must think of innovative ways to improve yourself and your followers remember where there is no guidance the people fall, But in an abundance of counsellors, there is victory.

Finally, in case you're coming and you don't know where you're going again, it's not too late to go back to where you are coming from and let those who have truly come to serve diligently attain the position of authority.

OAU Denies Recruitment Processes

The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has debunked a conversation online about an alleged staff recruitment exercise going on in the university.

The university revealed it is not currently recruiting any staff at the moment.

This was disclosed in a statement titled “BEWARE OF SCAMMERS: OAU IS NOT RECRUITING”, released by the University spokesperson, Abiodun Olanrewaju, on Sunday, and made available to OAUPeeps News Agency.

The attention of the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has been drawn to a conversation online about an alleged staff recruitment exercise currently going on in the University. The said conversation is not only false but devilish, malicious and a pure scam.

We, therefore, want the general public, most especially those desperately in need of employment, to know that Obafemi Awolowo University is NOT on any staff recruitment exercise for now.

A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that OAU, as an academic institution, does not engage in secret or clandestine employment, neither would it's Vice Chancellor or any other Principal Officers of the University ask an applicant for any monetary or material gratification.

In fact, our staff recruitment exercise always follows due process : we place vacancies advertisement in two widely read National Dailies and the same will be displayed on the University website. Please, also note that we do not engage the services of an outsider for our staff recruitment exercise.

In view of this, the general public should disregard, in its entirety, the contents of the conversation, and that OAU does not advert it's staff recruitment exercise on the social media.

The University does not know nor have any relationship whatsoever with any nebulous Dr. Williams Abah. Therefore, anything done or purportedly done on behalf of the University or its Vice Chancellor by the so called Dr. Williams Abah, with GSM number 0802 129 4368, has nothing to do with the University.

Any person or group of persons who transacts, or has transacted any business with him in the name of the University does so at their own risk.

Agitations At Fajuyi Hall As Man O War Member Beat Student For Passing Excreta At Their Base

Fajuyi hall of residence members were agitating that the law must take its due core on the member of Man O War for beating a student who was caught passing excreta at their base.

OAUPeeps News Agency Correspondent gathered that a student was caught by the Man O War Official for passing excreta at the Man O War base which has the inscription "Military Zone Keep Off" According to report gathered, the student caught in the act was told to pack his faeces who in turn told the officials that he dug the ground and has already covered it with sand.

The culprit according to his report while the case was been moderated at Fajuyi hall Secretariat, pleaded that they allow him to leave the excreta that way while he follow them to administer any punishment they want to him.

However, one of the Man O War official present started administering cane on him. An eye witness who saw the event while he was standing at the backyard of the first floor of Block 4 Fajuyi hall called the attention of Fajuyians to the case.

Consequently, when the student and the Man O War Officials came out of their base with his excreta which he eventually packed after much pressure from the officials, Fajuyians intervened and prevented them from taking him to their(Man O War) Secretariat.

While moderating the case at Fajuyi Hall Secretariat, a porter from the Fajuyi Hall Of Residence came and intervened and corrected the Man O War Officials that it's not in their place to lay hands on Students regardless of the offense.

A Year After The Loss Of Heritage Ajibola, Mantainance Resident Take To Social Media To Narrate Their Ordeals, And Address Students Union As All Talk And No Bite

 By Ayomide Emmanuel

A resident of the popular private hostels, mantainance hostels owned by private individuals has taken to her Twitter page to narrate the ordeals faced by the residents of the hostel.

Recall it's exactly a year today that the University lost a beautiful soul Heritage Ajibola who fell into a septic tank at Bver Hostel,Maintenace Hostels due to the neligence and lack of proper mainatance of the private hostels.

Ajibola Heritage

In this same vien, taking to her twitter page, Toriaforall said it's over 9months in which the hostel that houses greater population of the female students of Obafemi Awolowo University has been in blackout and the famale students has been subjected to gross maltreatment under the nose of the school management and nothing has been done about it. She further stated that despite numerous tiring protest, reports and daily-dallying, they have constantly been fed wth lies and stories that never seems to end.

Speaking on the issue of epelitic power and water supply experienced by the residents of the hostel, she wrote that the reason why most of them moved to the hostel was because of 24 hours of light and water supply which was in the tenancy agreement that they signed. According to her, businesses have shut down and they have to through series of harassment just to change their devices and they go through rigorous torture of having to drag buckets of water up in the staircase multiple times a day which lead to sickness and the hostels developer who charge hefty and ridiculous amount of naira for a bedspace have been complacent and dormants about the situations.

Stressing her fact, she addresses the union as all talk and no bite despite all what they are facing ranging from the purchase of faulty transformer and stories of embezzlement. She further stated that out of 17 hostels, 12hostels have lights. Naming the hostels concerned, she named Ajike hostel owned by Rushmore ltd, Bver hostel owned by Bver hostels and suites, Aquifer hostel owned by Aquifer hostels and suites and Aderonke hostel owned by OAU int'l school.
